Cofeseg marks a new milestone with the installation of its first Double Disc Econetic Machine at the Portuguese company Granital.

With the help of the prestigious manufacturer Huada Group, Cofeseg has launched on European soil the first Double Disc cutting machine with permanent magnet Econetic technology for quarries. This new working system represents potential productivity advantages that can change the conventional concept of natural stone extraction. “For those quarries that have the right characteristics, it has been proven that this type of technology considerably improves performance compared to traditional exploitation,” says Sergio Chaparro, Cofeseg manager and responsible for the installation.

“Thanks to the trust placed in us by the Portuguese client Granital, we have been working with the machine for three weeks, including the different preliminary phases of ground preparation and the specific cutting process, obtaining very satisfactory productivity results, which represents a true revolution in the way of operating in quarries,” explains Sergio.

The Econetic Double Disc is equipped with two 75 hp motors, which work independently and automatically thanks to its two variators that allow that, when one disc passes through a harder area, the other disc automatically adapts to the demands of the material. In addition, “the machine has an autonomous cutting management system, which allows the progressive and efficient exchange of the 2.40 cm disc with the 3.60 cm one, so that great precision is obtained in the cutting depth,” explains Andrea Serrai, technical manager of Cofeseg.

The machines are offered for the following cutting widths: 1360-1900, 1950-2450, 2600-3100; both for 2.4 and 3.6 m cutting discs, which allows a depth of 1,550 mm; and with 2200 and 4200 mm discs, with a depth of 1,850 mm.

The cutting speed, depending on the type of stone and segment, can reach more than 12 m2/hour per disc, obtaining with this extraction system a productive efficiency that any other traditional system cannot achieve, says Andrea Serrai.

As an integral part of this project, the quarry staff has also been trained in welding new segments, which allows the discs to be renewed for a new use. Granital has provided all the necessary resources for the correct development of the new system.
